Across (2020), Identity Exploration.

Across is a cross stitch kit developed to present and instruct ways to stitch letters. The kit contains the necessities for cross stitching such as needles, thread and Aida cloth. Additionally, it includes 3 booklets; an instruction manual, a letter guide and a cross stitch specimen.

This project was an exploration on how we interact with visual messaging on a daily basis. I began my research around the meanings of laundry symbols which then developed into a narrative of communication through stitches.


Through this project, I was able to learn how to both initiate and respond to an ambiguous idea. I made sure to not only utilise digital methods as it made the project much more authentic and really helped me understood the meaning of the brief. It was a great exploration of parallel practices that are often unseen and allowed me to reflect upon such communication that could connect with the public.
